When you open LARGE files, such as those above 500mb or 1GB, you might see a weird dialogue that tells you memory out of core threshold box and asks you to convert data. In those cases, you need to try to increase LDA page to MAX.

If you don't understand what I said, it's okay. That was not English. Follow these instructions to solve your problem:

  1. Open Amira
  2. Edit
  3. Preferences
  4. Layout Tab:
    1. Everything that includes the word "top-level window", check it to make your life easier.
  5. LDA Tab:
    1. Anything with a slider, drag it to the right side to maximize it.
  6. Click OKAY and now that pestering window of core threshold window when loading large dataset should disappear now. :D

These in short will ensure that you use the MAXIMUM amount of available memory.
